KL Trip 02-06.12.2009 Part 4

So, finally the second last day of the KL trip... We woke up quite early in the morning, had our break fast, then our last round of shopping, then head back to Seremban before 12 noon. We reach Seremban around noon, then dad drop us (except mei mei) to the hairdresser to get our hair done. Then we were ready for the wedding dinner.

During the dinner, Nai Nai sang a song specially for the newly wed, and our mischievous second aunt, again, ask all of us the grand children to go up to the stage to support her... LOL, we did went up, and made it look so much like Nai Nai is having her own concert...

Everyone was quite high and drunk that evening, and then we head back to the house around 10.30 p.m. Then the next morning, was the tea ceremony. The newly wed have to give tea to the older generation, and the younger ones get to get ang pau from the newly wed, which makes me a bit embarrassing, cause running from the groom, which was my cousin brother, i'm just after him in line, and of course, which makes me the "eldest" that takes ang pau from them... sigh....

After the tea ceremony, we have to rush to the airport to get the latest flight back to KK. Sigh, we were having great times together with the long time no see relatives. I wonder when will we be able to have this kind of gathering anytime soon in the future...

KL Trip 02-06.12.2009 Part 3

After NaiNai's birthday party, we head back down to city central and spend two nights there. When we reach the Dewan Perpustakaan, we had the taste of real traffic jam once more... LOL, while we were in the jam, dad keep nagging that KL is not suitable for inhabitant and stuff like that... then me and Mosquito start to remembering the past when ever we pass by our old school or buildings that brings back the memory...
We stayed 2 nights in KL at Royale Bintang. Hotel was quite good and clean. We only asked for one room, so the 6 of us have to cram into one twin share room... on the 1st day in KL, after we had leave all the luggage in the hotel room, we went straight to our old house to go see my granny, then, we brought her for lunch. After lunch, we went back to city centre. That night, we went to Jalan Alor to settle our dinner, mmmmm.... Yummy!!! Mosquito didn't come along because she 发瘟 again...
The next day, early morning we went back to Cheras to fetch granny to go to Klang Bak Kut Teh. We started the journey at 8.30 a.m., and only reaching there nearly 10.30 a.m. Not that the journey was far, but the traffic jam was horrible. Dad even make fun that this journey to Klang very long, we must sit and enjoy our food for 2 hours in order to make the time wasted on traffic jam worth while.... LOL... but we only used 45 min finished every thing....
Then we head back to Cheras to drop granny back home, then head to Majlis Perbandaraan to settle something. After that, we went back to hotel, rest a bit, then SHOPPING!!!! Mua ha ha ha ha.....
the rest of the day in KL we spent on shopping, shopping and shopping, and occasionally eating. I'm able to meet up with Nicole before I had to head back to Seremban....

KL Trip 02-06.12.2009 Part 2

After the 2 hours flight from KK to KL, mad another hour and a half to send A-Wei back to Puchong then coming back out then head straight to Seremban, we finally reach there!! When we reached the front gate, we saw NaiNai was standing out there (later on she explained to us that she just came back from the groom’s new house). After greeting her, all of us head straight into the house to put down our luggage. In there, we meet up with our long time no see second aunt (well, not for me, cause I’ve met her last year April when she went to wellington for a business trip). More greetings and hugging, then NaiNai suggested us all to go to the new house. It was only less then 5 min drive to the new house.

We went into the house and sit there do nothing. Then me, dad, mum and mosquito were too bored, and we start playing “Chor Dai Di”. Then I say my uncle’s wife (whom I called her as pak mei) came down, saw us and start greeting us.

After that, we head to the restaurant, and my god, we need 3 tables to accommodate all the 3 generations. Second aunt was in charged of the whole celebration, so, she asked us to sit according to our age group. The kids table, which consist kid and teenagers that aging from 1-17 were seated together. The 2nd table was the grown up grand children table, which consist age group of 18-30 (just to let you guys know that the age span of my NaiNai’s grand children ranges from age 1 to 30). Then the last table accommodate my NaiNai (of course, duh) and her children with their spouse.

The night went on great, and 99% of the family member came back for the celebration (except for JinJie). The banquet room was equipped with karaoke, but none of us sang that night except for NaiNai, with the song of 月亮代表我的心, specially dedicated for us.

Me and A-mei was chatting through the whole course. We touched on a lot of topics, and mosquito joined us as well and also a-boy’s fiancé, Sim Yee. Throughout the whole conversation, we spoken in Cantonese and second aunt keep on asking us to speak English or mandarin, because Jin Kai cannot understand Cantonese. The four of us tried hard to speak English or mandarin, but within 10 seconds, we’ll switch it back to Cantonese, because we are not used to speak to each other with the language other than Cantonese… LOL, then second aunt will start shooting at us for not taking care of Jin Kai. Then another thing is that what ever me and A-Mei sis were talking about, her mum ( big aunt) will surely over heard us, then I jokingly asked her if she were eves dropping us, mana tau she said the 光明正大 listening to what we were chatting…. Sweat… =.=

After the whole meal, it was present time and photo taking session. Wa ha ha ha… when we present our present to NaiNai, the whole floor was amazed by our craft work… Nya ha ha ha… Man, I like the present, and when we had finished making it, me and mosquito felt not to give out the present, but in the end, the whole idea to for NaiNai, so we still choose to give it out... sob sob…

~The birthday cake for that night~

KL Trip 02~06.12.2009 Part 1

The main purpose for us to go back to KL - Seremban is to attend NaiNai's 70th birthday celebration and Vern Jian's wedding ceremony and dinner. We arrived KL around 3.30 p.m. in LCCT, and A-Wei picked us up from there and the we had to sent her back to her new house in Puchong, so we can borrow her car to drive back to Seremban.

Before we start our journey, we actually had made NaiNai a birthday present. We only started to decorating and made the present the day before we fly off to KL. Dad only had half day n his office, so he came back quite early back home, and to make note, his Prado masuk kilang already, so he had to depend on me to fetch him. So after he came home, I told him that me and mosquito needs to buy some materials for making NaiNai’s birthday present.
Me and mosquito been trying to explain what we wanted to make for NaiNai, but dad was too blunt to understand what we are trying to do. Dad followed us out as well cause he needs to go to the bank to settle something. We spend nearly 2 hours in gathering all the materials that we needed to the present. And guess what, starting from zero until the whole thing was finished, we only used 6 hours to finish it, plus there were some short breaks in between…

By the way, the present that we made for NaiNai is the 寿包…

An explaination note:
1) In chinese tradition, when an elder having a birthday on their 60's,70's,80's and so on, the younger generation are to celebrate the occasion with the bun.
2) The present that we made had 6 buns, where each of the buns represent each one of us in the family.

Birthday Dinner Round 2

So, there is a round 2 for my bday this year... On the real date itself, Frederick came up to me and asked me how I wanna celebrate, because I've got assignment due the next day, I said why not make it another day, then he say come on lar, he already told Derek to come along, and even San San, but San San cannot join us for the dinner... So I said it's ok, we'll decide where to have dinner after our lectures. So, me and him meet up at 6 at Rutherford House, then wait for Derek to show up. Meanwhile, we and him are still deciding where to have dinner..... I then suggested that I wanted to eat at HK BBQ(cause haven't been there since I got back to NZ). Then this Frederick said huh, really wanna go there ar... Ish.... Then I asked him where he wanna eat then... He couldn't make decision as well, so we listed a bunch of restaurant so we can choose... LOL, in the end, we decided to go to Seoul House.....While making decision, San San and Derek showed up. Then Derek said he wanna play footsal before going for dinner, and the reason he wanna play footsal is because he have never tried the one on the 1st floor one (uni provided a footsal machine at the second floor in Rutherford House)... Mao lit.... So all four of us move upstairs to play the footsal....

The after the 'match', we went to Seoul House to makan. We each ordered our own dish. Then I saw Kay came in... LOL.... Kesihan him... Always sees him alone for dinner...

~Me, holding up a menu~

~Our meal~

After the dinner, Frederick said if we should blow the candle in the shop, and I strongly said no!!! Being a very ordinary and humble person as I am, no way I want the whole shop know.. Then, Frederick suggested that we can go to Oriental Bay... My gosh, that night was so friggin cold and he still had the right mind to suggest to go to Oriental Bay.. Then Frederick suggested again that we could go to the place behind the City Library. And we all agreed, cause is so much closer... LOL...

~Night view of the place~

~Frederick bought me 2 slices of cake~

~Candle lighted cake~

After blowing candle and finished the cake, me and Derek teman Frederick to the bus stop to wait for his bus, and after sending that big kid off, me and Derek walked back home (he live near me) and me continue battling with that darned assignment!!!!

Birthday Pot Luck

Mua ka ka ka ka... My b'day is finally here!!!!! Another year older... Sad.... Anyhow, Nicole suggested earlier that to have a pot luck at her place to celebrate my bday. So those who turn up was me and Nicole (of course), then got Minwei (of course also, coz she live with Nicole), and Emma and her cousin!!!!! there are 5 of us, and because every one are going to cook at Nicole's place, so, Nicole asked us to go to her place at different time.
As were suggested we do pot luck, the menu for that day is superb!!!! High calories and protein not to mentioned, but taste very very nice!!! I made a mushroom dish, errr, kinda the hakka way.. I prepared the stuffing before going to Nicole's place, then do the stuffing at her place and deep fry it..... Then after the dish is done, sigh, every one tried a bit, then tray a but again then agian and again, lol, only left half when we all sit down together and eat...

~Finished stuffing and coating it with a layer of flour~

~Finished product, but still need to fry before it's edible~

~The final product!!! Looks golden brown, nice!!!!~

OK! Then it's Nicole's menu.... Her menu is ~~~~~~~~~~ PRAWN MEE!!!!!!! Yoo Hoo!!! Seriously, her prawn mee taste very alike!!! And she also prepared the belacan!!! OMG, Nicole, you're the best!!!! Mua ha ha ha ha.... And Emma tried the prawn mee for the 1st time, she was so so so shock that it tasted so nice!!! Ha ha ha ha... Not just the soup did taste like the ori one, but the taste also... Yummmmmy....

~JUST look at it, and you are already mouth watering~

~The essentials for the prawn mee~
~Couldn't go without the eggs and chicken floss with prawn mee~

~Setting up to eat the prawn mee~

Then go to Emma's dish for the day. She and her cousin made the pork leg. It's really really tasty, taste quite like the 纸包鸡, I like that dish a lot!!! Need to learn it before I go back to KK to cook for Mosquito them all... The preparation is quite easy, just need some time to bake it...

~Emma frying the leg before setting it into the oven~
~After finish baking it, Emma cuts it into piece, man, the aroma lingers the whole place~

Minwei made us radish cake, and of course, make from radish... I don't know how she prepared it, cause when I reach Nicole's place the radish cake are already baking in the oven... Too bad....
~It looks ordinary, but it taste fine!!!~

And of course, how could you not have a birthday cake for the event?! The cake is prepared by Emma and her cousin. They, ermm, kinda DIY the cake. They bought 2 pieces of plain cake from New World, they brought a pack of strawberries, cans of peaches and mixed fruits, and also whipped cream. And not to forget the chocolate fingers.... Everything goes alright, until Emma tried to spray whipped cream on to the cake. Guess what, the cream started to melt.. LOL...
~The cake in making progress~

~Look how tempting is the strawberries!!!~

~Ta Da! The finished cake!~

So, when everything is finished, we setted up the table and start feasting!!!!
~The table setted before feasting!!!~

After having a great dinner, the cake was brought out... Then putting in the candles, and when comes to lighting the candle, then only we found out that none of us had a lighter or matches. So, Nicole and Emma went next door to see if they have lighter... And luckily, they have... Nicole and Emma them all sang me birthday song.. Seriously, I was quite touched that time, cause in the previous years, some time my parents and even myself would forget my own birthday... Then, Nicole handed me a present. Well, the picture of the present I will upload next time. After making wish and blowing candles, given that we had a heavy meal just now, we manage to finish the all of the cake in 10 min!!! Yup, finished the cake in 10 min!!!! And we were quite shocked oneself also.... LOL!!!!
~Putting the candles on~

~In progress of destroying the cake (btw, that's Nicole's hand there, LOL)~

~Putting the whole tin of whipped cream onto the cake~

~Lol, nice nice punya cake jadi macam ni, but still taste great!!~

~The left over of the cake, and it was finished in 10 min~

So after the meals and cakes, Nicole brought out a bottle of wine. We have a beer each during the dinner. Err, don't if Minwei is drunk or not, but she looked very very very super red after a can of beer and gotten worst after a cup of wine. We tried to play truth and dare afterwards, but tak jadi, so only lay around to chat...

~Emma accidently spilt Nicole's cup of tea, and the spillage looks like a devil, LOL~
